Passive and Active Infanticide

In passive infanticide, no action is taken to save a child. Sickly children are often considered not fully born and efforts to save them are discouraged.

In active infanticide direct action is take to kill a child, usually a neonate.

Active infanticide is necessary where the survival of a child threatens the survival of siblings or of adults

Without infanticide, humanity probably could not have survived.
