No Homelands
So, where's this little girl from?
If you guessed Lelepa Island, about 1500 miles NW of Sydney, Australia, you were right.
We can sometimes trace the origin of an individual trait, but people who look similar may come from very different areas.
Next: Who are your relatives?
OK, so that one was above was a trick question. How about Shel, pictured left? Is she Asian? Maybe Japanese or Korean? She says lots of people think so... But no, she's actually from Colombia and according to genetic tests, she's about 60% MesoAmerican and Andean, and about 17% West African, mostly from Nigeria and the remainder Southern and Eastern European (or unknown). No detectable East Asian ancestry at all (though a bit more than 1% Central Asian). You can here her discuss all this (in basic Spanish) on her video by following this link.
