Bourgeoisie: owners of the means of production

Petite Bourgeoisie: self employed but at income similar to proletariat.

Proletariat: does not own means of production and therefore must sell labor to survive.

Lumpen Proletariat: "refuse of all classes...swindlers, confidence tricksters, brothel keepers, rag-and-bone merchants, beggars and other flotsam of society."

In capitalist societies, resistance to capitalism is common.

People may use various mechanisms within a captialist economy to try to sell their labor for a higher price.

People may try to escape selling their labor ina variety of ways. Although the desire of members of the proletariat to become bourgoise are common, so too are individuals who wish to escape capitalism entirely.
