Warner Directors

The best known of Warner's animators were Fredrick Bean "Tex" Avery (1908-1980, from Taylor, TX), Charles Martin "Chuck" Jones (1912-2002), and Bob Clampett (1913-1984).
Although numerous people were involved in creating the Warner characters and in producing the films, Avery is probably most responsible for key characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Porky Pig.
Of the three directors, Jones' work is the most often seen today. Jones worked for Avery and Clampett in the 1930s but did his best known work in the 1950s. Jones' early work is "cute" but his better known work is hard-edged.
Most of the voice work in these cartoons was done by Mel Blanc (1908-1989), "The Man of 1000 Voices." Blanc voiced Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety Bird, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, Pepe Le Pew, Speedy Gonzales and many others.
